Argus is a Chrome extension that monitors Amtrak ticket prices on your behalf. When you open an Amtrak search results page, Argus reads the fares displayed in your browser, compares them against a threshold you set, and alerts you when prices drop below that threshold.
Argus works entirely within your browser. It does not communicate with any external server, and it does not transmit any information about you or your searches anywhere.
Specifically, Argus never collects:
· Your name, email address, or any account information
· Your location or device identifiers
· Your Amtrak search queries or travel routes
· Browsing history or page visits
· Any analytics, crash reports, or usage statistics
Argus stores the following locally on your device:
· Your alert threshold (the price you want to be notified at)
· Your fare class preference (e.g. Coach or Business)
· A short history of fare prices for the routes you've watched
This data is stored using the Chrome storage.local API. It is accessible only to the Argus extension running in your own browser. You can clear it at any time by removing the extension or clearing your browser's extension storage.
Argus uses no third-party services, analytics platforms, advertising networks, or tracking tools of any kind. There are no external API calls, no telemetry, and no dependencies on outside services.
The extension reads fare data directly from the Amtrak website you already have open in your browser — it does not make any independent requests to Amtrak or any other service on your behalf.
If this privacy policy changes, the updated version will be published here with a revised "Last updated" date. Because Argus collects no data, any future changes are unlikely to affect your privacy in any meaningful way.
Continued use of the extension after a policy update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
